Community involvement is a fundamental value, which reflects
THEREdesign’s core belief that
architecture is not virtual. That architecture is the creation of real places and authentic experiences for real people.
Our immediate community is the Allston Village neighborhood. Katy has been a volunteer board member of the Allston Village Main Streets program since 2003. THEREdesign has participated in the Taste of Allston fundraiser, the annual Boston Shines event and designed several signs and storefronts for local businesses.
Kristin and Kate both volunteer with the greater Boston Habitat for Humanity organization.
Katy participated this summer in the Massachusetts Girl Scout Council: Camp Entrepreneur Program for girls of ethnic diversity.
In addition to these activities, THEREdesign also provides financial or in-kind support of the following organizations:
Habitat for Humanity
Unicef
Boston Food Pantry
Center for Family Connections-Adoption Resource Center
American Civil Liberties Union
American Institute of Architects Minority Student Scholarship Fund
Penn State Alumni Fund
Friends of McGill University Scholarship Fund
Driscoll School PTO
American Repertory Theater
Institute for Contemporary Art
Museum of Fine Arts:Boston
Mass College of Art
One of our favorite community organizations that we urge all our clients, collaborators and friends to support is the Boston Building Resource Center.
They are a not for profit organization that accepts donations of excess building materials and offers them at minimal cost to low income homeowners. It is a great way to support the community and the environment at the same time.
THEREdesign participates in the following professional organizations:
USGBC: United States Green Building Council
SCUP: Society for College and University Planning
American Institute of Architects
Boston Society of Architects: member
Boston Society of Architects: Women Principals Network
Boston Society of Architects: Women in Design
