The existing lower level entry wall was glass and the upper level was solid, which blocked the views from the living level to the landscape. This composition was inverted, creating a more inviting entry with a closet. The newly well-lit stairway invites one up to the living level where one can now see out through the glass and where natural light can filter in. Interior walls have been opened to allow a flow of space through to the kitchen, living room and family room. A large openable pantry area was clad in cherry paneling to counterbalance the heavy existing brick chimney at the other end of the room. A four foot wide pantry door can be opened to add space to the kitchen or be quickly hidden away.
